Toyota Camry against the pandemic. Three thoughts on bestsellers rewiew
We had grandiose plans for this Toyota Camry: we hoped to gather all generations, and later – to compare it with classmates: new Hyundai Sonata and restyled Mazda6. But there was a coronavirus, passes, imprisonment, masks and that's it.
The sedan with an invigorating V6 nameplate at the stern for the second month stands motionless in the parking lot – under a layer of dust, in silence and with a hazy future. We meet with him a couple of times a week: I leave the next parking lot, see off the predatory ancestors of the LED headlights Camry in the rearview mirror and dream of polishing the dry asphalt again somewhere in empty Warsaw.
In general, the experience of operating a Toyota Camry to pandemic showed that versions of the V6 are somewhat separate: such cars do not buy corporate fleets, they are not in taxis and rental. Basically, the top Camry is chosen by those who want speakers, but do not accept the turbocharged engines, but still believe in liquidity and are convinced that the car is also an investment.
We are talking about an eight-speed "automatic" as on the new RAV4 – there the box is paired with a 2.5-liter tank. The Camry version with this engine is still the most popular, but instead of the new 8AKP there is still a "six-speed", which got a sedan from the previous generation V50. In general, the Camry with the new "machine" should be a little faster and more economical.
However, let's leave the equipment. Camry with the change of generation has become quieter, it is no longer afraid of sharp turns and cool steering, but there is a problem: I'm uncomfortable in it. Yes, the Japanese have taken a giant step forward in terms of ergonomics and finishing materials – Camry has become closer in perception to the "Europeans", and that's great. However, I still miss the advanced multimedia with cool graphics, fully digital tidy and the usual options like the electric trunk lid. All this is not in any of the configurations.
